Happy almost weekend & Fri-yay, friends. We made it! So a couple weekends ago, Martin & I headed to Hazelmere Pumpkin Patch and I'm so excited to share our photos. It's a new to us patch, and we loved it. They had lots of pumpkins to choose from (we grabbed all their tiny ones for our Thanksgiving table), a hayride, a corn-maze, lots of animals to pet, and the farm was truly beautiful. Life has been busy, and it was so blissful to escape to the country and putter around the farm for the day. We explored, picked pumpkins, and periodically sat in the shade on their red picnic tables and just took it all in. Highly recommend! We still have one more patch to cross off our list and I can't wait.
This weekend, we're ready for all the fun plans. We're heading to our friends house for their annual Halloween party. My costume is super last minute / pretty much the same as last year's. I'm dressing up as a bunny and wearing my super comfy and cozy Smash & Tess romper. Then on Sunday, we're heading to one more local pumpkin patch. It's smaller, they have a general store, and overall it has the perfect Gilmore Girl vibes - which I can't get enough of this time of year. Then on Tuesday, we'll be home and handing out candy to all the adorable trick or treaters. So, so, fun!
My adorable shacket is from Madewell (I had so many of you DM me via my Insta stories) but unfortunately it's from last year. This one is similar though, and I love this one so much too. It's such an easy piece to throw on with high rise denim, a skirt, or I even love wearing it with my black slip dress and a chunky boot. My skirt is back at The Gap and the print is my very fave! I'm still eyeing a few things for my fall wardrobe like these beautiful boots, this headband and the most perfect cardigan. Have a great weekend, friends! xo

PS - Here's a link to my hubby's shacket. It's Old Navy and he absolutely loves it. And I love stealing it for morning dog walks. Haha!
We took impromptu photos while shooting an outfit reel for my Instagram because I thought it would be helpful to pop in here and chat on how to make summer dresses work for fall. While I love adding new pieces to my wardrobe each season... I also believe in having pieces that carry me through the seasons, offer more longevity, and ultimately, it's kinder on my savings account! ;) When it comes to transitioning summer dresses into fall? I'd recommend layering light jackets, wool blazers, or adding a chunky cardigan. For shoes, I'd consider ballet flats, sneakers, or booties for cooler days. Choosing a more autumnal colour palette for your dresses will help so much too. I love black, olive, brown, and rust tones for this time of year, and prefer to save my pastel hued dresses for summer.
My dress is from Amazon (comes in a variety of colours) and it's the best Hill House nap dress dupe I've seen to date. It's one of my most worn pieces! My Chanel bag is new and if you're looking for something similar... I found this one on the resale market. What a beauty! And can't recommend this smart & preppy light fall layer for your autumn wardrobe + love this one so much too! And speaking of Hill House?! They just launched their holiday collection and it's absolutely beautiful. I'm thinking of adding this dress to my wardrobe and wearing it with cap toe block heels for our Christmas dinner.
Hope your week is winding down nicely, friends. We're hosting dinner at our house this weekend. Then doing some minor repairs around the house on Sunday. Plus, Poppy (our adorable black Maltipoo) is off to the groomers / doggy spa, and mom & dad are off to enjoy a beautiful lunch spot by the ocean complete with white wine, clam chowder and delicious dessert. Can't wait! xo

Earlier in September, Martin & I went apple picking at The Apple Barn at Taves Family Farms and the next day we couldn't wait to make gluten free apple crisp. It was our first time making apple crisp and it was so delicious. I opted for a gluten free version since my hubby is gluten sensitive but you can absolutely use regular flour as well. Also, yay, so excited to feature our new kitchen (we've been in our new house for about a year and a half) and we absolutely love the farmhouse aesthetic sooo much. In fact, when we were baking, there was an outdoor concert going on, and so naturally, we poured ourselves an autumnal beer and opened the windows to enjoy the music. It was so lovely!
You'll need:
4-5 medium sized apples
In a medium bowl, mix together the oats, flour and brown sugar. Add in the melted butter and stir until all is moistened. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the filling. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the apples are tender and bubbling. Let stand for 5-10 minutes, then serve in a bowl with ice cream. Here's the original recipe I used.
Voila, so easy. If you decide to make this recipe... let me know in the comments. I'd love to know how it turned out for you. We've made it a second time since, and it's definitely a new family favourite around here. Even our pup enjoyed some fresh apples while we prepped our apple crisp recipe. Ha! Hope you're having a terrific week, friends. I'll be back next week with another fall inspired post, and if you're new here?... Be sure to subscribe to get new blog posts straight to your inbox! xo

Just a few weeks ago, Martin and I were craving a little adventure - but we were both tired from a busy week and wanted to stay as local as possible. We found the perfect spot! We visited Boothroyd Coffee House in Surrey and it was possibly the most darling heritage coffee house I've ever been to. Highly recommend if you're local. It was quiet, relaxed and filled with so much character, and made for the most memorable Sunday afternoon. I had an expresso and the most delicious veggie bagel sandwich, and honestly felt like I was on a set for the coziest Hallmark film. So idyllic!
We stayed for a couple hours, also grabbed a cookie, and I grabbed a second expresso. Haha, did I mention I was tired from a busy week?! ;) As for Boothroyd Heritage Coffee... I think what I loved most was the fact that we were in a house. You can sit in different nooks and rooms, each has a slightly different feel, and it's insanely cozy. People were relaxing with friends, reading or catching up on work and had their laptops with them. Martin & I are going to Fort Langley next (so easy now that it's only 25 minutes away) and I'm excited to explore the coffee shops there as well.
For our coffee shop adventure, I wore my favourite Hill House nap dress dupe from Amazon. I'm obsessed! I've been wearing dresses non-stop lately and don't see myself stopping any time soon. Now that the weather is cooling... I'd love to start pairing my dresses with my J.Crew houndstooth blazer and sneakers, or a cute pair of booties. Or even a super cozy cardigan! I also met with my photographer this past weekend and I'm sooo excited to say I've started photographing my outfits and daily looks again. Can't wait for outfit posts to become a regular feature on my blog (who remembers my Girl & Closet days??). Let me know if there's anything else you'd love to see! xo

Can you believe this was my first year going to an apple orchard?! We had so much fun! I originally wanted to bring our sweet little pup, Ms. Poppy, and in an apple sweater no less. But in the end, I'm glad we left her at home. I'm quite certain we would have been overwhelmed taking photos and "trying" to keep an eye on our pup. Knowing Poppy, she'd be running to meet & greet, well, pretty much everyone. She loves the people, and the kids. Other dogs... not so much. Haha!
This year, I'm delighted to say, we've gotten such a wonderful jump start on our autumnal festivities. For my first apple picking experience... I decided on The Apple Barn at Taves Family Farms. It's one of my all time favourites (we've gone there for their pumpkin patch in previous years), and their apples were delicious. We chose to take one of their smaller bags home and I loved having apples to snack on throughout the week + we ended up making the most delicious apple crisp. Excited to have two things checked off my Fall Bucket List. Whoo-hoo!
While there, we also walked by the pumpkin patch (how could we not!), grabbed mini apple cider donuts, visited the goats, and relaxed at Taves Estate Cidery as well. Oh my gosh! The cidery was so charming & idyllic, and I'd love to go again this fall in a cozy coat and a gorgeous pair of J.Crew boots. Why yes, I'm 100% that girl that's always dreaming up all the outfits. Haha! It's half the fun.
As for my apple picking outfit? I wore my new J.Crew dress, which I love. It's so flattering, the colours are so autumnal and I can't wait to wear it again in cooler months paired with this blazer and a pair of booties. My sandals are Steve Madden and ultra comfy, though next year, I'd love to add these to my wardrobe - such a great Hermes dupe. Lastly, my sunglasses are Chanel and they're a new buy. Haven't done an unboxing yet... but perhaps that's something I can put on the docket if you'd be interested! xo

This is undoubtedly my favourite time of year. I love traditions and celebrating each season as much as I can. This year, especially, I'm sooo excited for fall. We're in our new farmhouse inspired home (which we bought last year) living in the suburbs and in the cutest historic downtown. We're surrounded by so much beautiful farm land and I'm 100% in my element, and so very happy to be here!! On that note, here's what I'm thinking for this autumn...
1. Decorate our porch with pumpkins - still one of my favourite things to do. It never gets old! This is my first time having a front yard as an adult, and I'm so excited to put pumpkins out again this year.
1. Decorate our porch with pumpkins - still one of my favourite things to do. It never gets old! This is my first time having a front yard as an adult, and I'm so excited to put pumpkins out again this year.
2. Re-watch Gilmore Girls - I re-watch it like clock work each year and I swear it just keeps getting better. Haha! I'm also currently watching Sweet Magnolias on Netflix and I love it.
3. Try a pumpkin beer at our local brewery - hard to believe I've never had one. Recently, we discovered Barnside Brewing and I'm hoping they'll have a seasonal feature. We went there for our wedding anniversary this past August, and I'd love to go back this fall. It's on a farm and the vibes are so on point.
4. Hand out candy to trick or treaters - I'm buying snacks for Martin & I, grabbing ciders or pumpkin beer, and getting dressed up to hand out candy. We had so much fun last year + it's such a great way to meet and chat with all our neighbours.
5. Host an autumnal dinner - we recently did a dining room overhaul with Pottery Barn and I can't wait to set the table and host a cozy dinner for friends.
6. Go apple picking - Martin & I went for the first time this year and had the best time. We'll absolutely be making it a new tradition and I can't wait to share photos from our day later this week.
7. Make apple crisp - yup. Done! We made the yummiest apple crisp for the first time after going apple picking and I can't wait to put together a blog post with the recipe. It was sooooo good!
8. Visit a pumpkin patch - I'm hoping to do two this year and would love to bring our pup, Ms. Poppy. She loves little outings and exploring with us.
9. Read a cozy fall book - not sure if this counts as an autumnal read... but I recently bought The Breakaway by Jennifer Weiner and I'm loving it. It's such a fun & unexpected romantic story, so wonderfully layered, and I haven't been able to put it down.
10. Buy my pup a pumpkin costume - like how can I not. Right?! Ms. Poppy is a little 8 pound black Maltipoo and would make for the cutest little pumpkin. Aw!
11. Plan a cozy cabin getaway - found the cutest tiny home on a farm with an outdoor shower & hot tub, and I'm sooo ready. Ready to curl up with my book, light a fire, sip wine and nap the weekend away. Haha! And let me know what's on your bucket list, friends. I'd love to hear all about it!!

When Martin & I moved into our new house (it'll be two years this January. Wow time flies!) we really weren't sure how to set up our dining room. We chose a small round Ikea table as a quick fix because we were worried a larger table would overwhelm the space. But then, this past August we were hosting two events at our home and quickly realized we wouldn't have enough room for appetizers, plates and wine glasses. So, I came up with a late night plan. Haha, poor Martin! He knows me well, and knew we'd be assembling into the wee hours.
And so, we unpacked our Pottery Barn Toscana Dining Table which was stored in our garage since our recent move and I'm so happy we did. You might recall we had it in our previous condo. But somehow, we were convinced it wouldn't work. Lesson learned! Next time, we'll definitely arrange our furniture first and then make decisions as we go. Plus when it comes to Pottery Barn... it's kind of a no brainer. I love their aesthetic and find it always suits different spaces beautifully. Our pillows, curtains and curtain rod, plates and candle votives are also recent Pottery Barn additions. Clearly, I like, what I like.
We now spend so much more time in our dining area. Our dining room is situated in the middle of our main living floor with the kitchen to the right and living room to the left. It's our favourite spot to gather after a long day and connect over dinner, and host friends. I should also mention, our table seats six when you add two chairs at each end, or it extends to seat eight which is perfect for us. I also love sitting at our dining table with a hot cup of coffee and getting caught up on work emails in the morning. We still plan on finishing the space with a new chandelier and dining chairs. But for now this is perfect! Excited our home is feeling more like home each and everyday.
